Vintage Green 7 July - 31 August
Exhibition of vintage and recycled materials. Original artworks created using a combination of traditional and contemporary techniques such a embroidery. A variety of materials are used including vintage beads, buttons and silk.
Artists currently showing:
Stef Mitchell new paintings, Steve Tomlinson landscapes, Chiu - i Wu prints, original ink drawings, other ceramic sculptural work, Rupert Till animal sculpture, metal work by various artist blacksmiths and also garden pieces.
The work currently on show includes; contemporary jewellery by award-winning makers, artists and fine crafts people. Fine quality jewellery, domestic pottery and salt-glazed ceramics, kiln and hand blown glass bowls and sculpture, paintings, handwoven wall-hangings and scarves, stone and metal sculpture for the interior and garden, hand forged metal work such as candlesticks, mirrors, hooks and brackets.
The Gallery
The Saltbox Gallery & Workshop in Helmsley has been opened by Matthew and Louise Dwyer from North Yorkshire. The gallery is located in Ryedale amidst the picturesque North Yorkshire Moors and close by to Duncombe Park, the historic Helmsley Castle, and the Walled Garden.
Matthew and Louise are both established craft people, Matthew has been a blacksmith for 15 years and works with hand forged iron and metal, making work to commission; for example candlesticks, curtain poles, hooks, garden gates and trellis'. Louise is a jeweller and works with silver, gold and semi precious stones, making work such as, brooches, rings, necklaces and earrings, inspired by nature. She is currently organising new and interesting collections of jewellery and fine craft to be part of the permanent exhibition at the gallery.
The Courtyard Garden
Housed in a traditional 17th Century long house the gallery is light, natural and spacious
and leads out into a beautiful courtyard garden where artwork is also displayed.
The garden houses metal sculpture, garden benches, stone sculpture, topiary and shrubs.
The gallery has a strong emphasis on sourcing high quality original contemporary art
and fine hand-crafted work from Great Britain & Europe.
